Slight running in wear and mating wear of Journal of sliding bearing during accelerated starting and running in process are normal wear, but abnormal or serious wear, scratch and scuffing will occur when the bearing has the following faults. Let's have a look!
1. Improper bearing clearance, misalignment of bearing bush, poor contact of journal in bearing bush, unilateral contact or local pressure point of bearing bush, and failure of journal to form good oil film during operation can cause rotor vibration and bearing bush wear. When the cause of the fault is found out, the bearing must be replaced or carefully scraped and reassembled to meet the technical requirements.
2. The cylindrical bearing is not round, the size and shape of oil wedge of multi wedge bearing are not appropriate, the bearing clearance is too large or too small, the end face deflection of thrust disc of thrust bearing exceeds the allowable value, and the uneven thickness of pad makes the load distribution on each pad uneven. These factors can cause Babbitt metal wear on the surface of bearing bush. The better treatment method is to check the process shaft and repair the irregular shape of bearing bush.
3. The high amplitude of rotor caused by unbalance, misalignment, oil film oscillation and fluid induced vibration will cause friction, burning, scratch and scuffing of bearing bush. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the factors causing large vibration and replace the worn bearing.
4. If the bearing area of thrust bearing design is too small, compressor overpressure, wheel cover seal, interstage seal or interstage seal are damaged, excessive axial force will be produced, which will make the pad wear or burn.
5. If the lubricating oil supply is insufficient or interrupted, accidents such as friction between journal and bearing, burning and even shaft holding will be caused; the air filter or filter screen of oil supply system will be damaged, and the bearing oil supply will be not clean, resulting in oil hole blockage and bearing wear; the effect of oil cooler will be deteriorated, the oil inlet temperature will be high, the viscosity of oil will be reduced, the bearing will be deformed, the rotor will be vibrated and the bearing will be scratched; If the oil supply pressure is too low, the normal oil film cannot be established; if the lubricating oil contains water, the oil film will be damaged and the journal and bearing will be corroded. These problems cause bearing damage. Therefore, it is necessary to repair or enlarge the oil cooler, replace the filter and replace the lubricating oil. Attention should be paid to the details when using the sliding bearing.
