The
performance of a self-lubricating bearing is largely influenced by the
surface roughness and hardness of the mating bearing material. High-quality shaft surfaces extend bearing life. On the contrary, a rough, low hardness surface influences and reduces the service life of the bearing.
A, shaft surface roughness
1. It is required to use under the conditions of fluid lubrication,
the surface of the matching shaft should be mirror-finished, and the gap
of the oil film should be reduced as much as possible to make it close
to the fluid lubrication state, thereby improving the performance of the
bearing.
2. The bearing is used under dry friction conditions, as long as it
controls the surface roughness of the mating shaft Ra = 0.4-063.
B, the hardness of the shaft
The surface hardness of the shaft is not less than 220 HB. Under
high load and oscillating conditions, the shaft must be heat-treated to
a hardness of HRC50 or more, hard chrome plated, and then ground. After
surface treatment, corrosion resistance can be improved, surface
hardness can be improved, and lubrication can be improved. For
similar corrosion conditions in seawater or similar, the mating shaft
must be plated with two to three layers of hard chrome. The surface roughness, sharp burrs, and grooves of the shaft can damage the sliding layer of the bearing.
Therefore,
choose a good self-lubricating bearing manufacturer, but also choose
the corresponding qualified bearing materials in order to allow
self-lubricating bearings to work properly.
